A CLEAR STARTING POINT

What are VAT advisory services?

VAT advisory services address specific VAT questions using the relevant transaction facts, rules and guidance. The output should explain the conclusion, assumptions, evidence needed and practical next steps, including any uncertainty that remains.

A short invoice description rarely tells the full story. Contracts, the parties’ roles, delivery arrangements and supporting evidence can change the analysis. We establish the question and facts before recommending a treatment.

A&A’s VAT advisory support can be scoped as a one-off review or recurring access for agreed questions. Advice from a consultant is not an FTA ruling. Where genuine uncertainty remains, we can assess whether a separately scoped private-clarification request is appropriate.

DEFINED WORK. USEFUL OUTPUTS.

What do our VAT advisory services include?

We agree the work, deliverables and exclusions before starting. The following workstreams guide that conversation; they are not a promise that every case needs the same engagement.

Question definition

Turn a broad concern into a specific decision: the transaction, period and outcome the business needs to understand.

Fact & evidence review

Examine the relevant contracts, invoices and operating arrangements. Identify missing information that could change the conclusion.

Treatment analysis

Consider the applicable rules and guidance with clear reference to the facts rather than relying on a sector label.

Written position

Document the agreed analysis, assumptions, limitations and the records the business should retain.

Operational handover

Explain how the conclusion affects invoicing, tax codes, approvals or reporting and who should implement each step.

Escalation & follow-up

Identify unresolved questions and whether further specialist work or an authority clarification should be considered.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT SUPPORT

Consultant advice or an FTA clarification?

Both depend on facts, but they are not interchangeable. A professional opinion is not an authority-issued decision.

BUILT AROUND YOUR OPERATIONS

Different businesses. Different priorities.

Dubai mainland and free-zone businesses can have different reporting needs. We confirm the entity, activity and applicable requirements instead of assuming one approach fits every company.

Trading & distribution

Goods movements, imports and supplier records can affect the evidence needed. Describe the supply chain as well as the invoice.

Professional services

Contracts, milestones and customer arrangements help explain the actual supply. A description on an invoice may not be sufficient.

Retail & e-commerce

Include platform settlements, credit notes and transaction-level reports so the records can be reconciled beyond a bank deposit.

FEES & DELIVERY

A quote based on the work you need.

Fees for VAT advisory services are agreed after an initial scope review. Professional fees are separate from any applicable tax, penalties or authority charges. Confirm the deliverables and exclusions in the proposal.

  • Entities and periods in scope
  • Quality and availability of supporting records
  • Transaction complexity and unresolved questions
  • Required deliverables and follow-up support

PRACTICAL ANSWERS

VAT advisory. Your questions answered.

Start here, then discuss the details that depend on your records, deadlines and business structure.

Ask the A&A team →
Can I get advice on just one transaction?

Yes. A defined transaction can be scoped separately. Provide enough facts and documents to distinguish it from a general question.

Do you offer ongoing VAT advisory support?

Recurring support can be agreed around the expected questions, availability and deliverables. Confirm the limits rather than assume unlimited access.

Is your advice binding on the FTA?

No. Consultant advice is not an FTA ruling. A private clarification follows a separate authority process and is subject to its own conditions.

Can you confirm treatment from an invoice alone?

Sometimes additional facts are essential. The invoice, contract and actual supply arrangements need to be consistent before a dependable conclusion is reached.

Can advice cover previous returns?

We can assess the issue and identify whether a separate historical review or correction engagement is needed. Do not assume new advice automatically corrects past filings.

Will you guarantee VAT savings?

No. The purpose is a supported treatment and practical compliance decisions, not an assured reduction in tax. Commercial choices remain with management.
